Time

Time

Elusive yet plainly impending,
Abundant yet so quickly ending.
Vehicle of both hope and fears,
Giving moments yet taking years.
Once passed, there’s no way to turn back—
For some, dragging—others, harsh lack.
Years, months, days, minutes go by
Seemingly in the blink of an eye.
Your sympathies sought—strong, replete—
Where youth and decrepitude meet.
Pleasant and memorable, glorious;
Eventful—with wonder—victorious.
Sorrowful, leaving hearts broken;
Mem’ries its imperfect token.
Though never obliged to revert,
It looks forward, hopeful—alert.
With all things regarded and noted,
It passes—years measured, gems quoted.
