Before her birth, there were
No diaper runs to the store,
No groggy wee-hour vigils,
No crackers on the floor.
There were no coos and babbles,
No wind-up baby swing,
No playpens hogging up space,
No diaper bag to bring.
But now I could not imagine,
Nor could a time occur
That I would be content
Even one day without her.
