Life Bursts Out

When your stamina's depleted
And you're pressed on every side;
When life's troubles, like a breaker,
Want to crush you in their tide;
When the valley of the shadow
Is prolonged, and there's no light;
When your enemy is prowling,
And it seems there's only night;
When the darkness comes against you--
No escape within your reach;
When your ship's on raging waters
And the hull's about to breach

There's a moment in the crisis,
As you face the coming lot,
That you know you must do something--
Even if it 's all for naught.
In that blink of desperation,
You reach deep within your soul
And remember Christ redeemed you
And your life in Him is whole.
For His Spirit lives within you,
And you have no need to fear;
When the enemy encroaches,
Your Defender draweth near.

Then your mouth begins to open
And you speak in victory,
For the Lord of Hosts is with you
And will crush your enemy.
He has given you authority
To trample on your foe,
Overcoming all his power,
So he's forced to quickly go.
And the life you are now living
In the body made of flesh
Is no longer just your own--
Christ has given life afresh.

It's for freedom He has risen
From the grave, so have no doubt;
Resurrection life is in you,
And it must come bursting out!
