As if my words were made of gold
That was my favorite
The way you’d pick sights for us to see
And try to keep them a mystery
That was my favorite
The way you took me for a camel rideOn “Lawrence of Florence” and stayed by my side
That was my favorite
The way you’d always make a stop
To get me a muffin and a diet pop
That was my favorite
The way you held my hand real tight,
As if to say, ‘This is so right.’
That was my favorite
The way you tenderly looked at me
And said ‘I do’ eternally
That was my favorite
The way you looked so proud and glad
The day you first became a dad
That was my favorite
The way you made her a classic toon groupie
With Tom & Jerry, Bugs Bunny, and Droopy
That was my favorite
The way it set your heart awhirl
When we had our second little girl
That was my favorite
The way you taught her crawdadding technique
And helped her wade along the creek
That was my favorite
The way your heart was filled with joy
When we finally had our little boy
That was my favorite
The way you showed him structural rules,
First with blocks—and later on—with tools
That was my favorite
The way you sacrificed, in spite of debt,
To see that your family’s needs were met
That was my favorite
The way you love each of us with such affection
And would do anything for our protection
The way that you laugh, the way that you smile,
Your jokes and your quirks, your unique lack of style
All the things that you are—wisdom, brains, and much more
Make you the one that I adore
You are my favorite
