Velma

Velma Dinkley, a curious girl with her intellect intact

She's the smartest of the bunch—no one would argue that fact

She's a high school friend of the gang—Daphne, Fred and Shaggy

She wears an orange turtleneck that seems to be rather baggy

While sporting black-rimmed glasses and wearing knee-length socks

She proves she's not simply a nerd and can hold her own with jocks

Her middle name is Daisy, which sounds pretty harmless and tame;

But she took martial arts as a child and savors a hockey game

She's clearly obsessive-compulsive and thrives on an organized plan

Perhaps that's why she fears clowns, who pull tricks whenever they can

Velma's a well-read bookworm and leans toward the somewhat obscure,

Which makes her a valuable sleuth—an asset, to be sure

She's interested in science—perhaps that could explain why

She once even dated Shaggy. Experiment gone awry?

Velma is really strong and seems to think on her feet

She can pick up the whole darn gang when they need a fast retreat

"Jinkies!" is her catchphrase when she's found a clue or is scared

Pizza and a malted milkshake are her favorite things when paired

Apparently her boyfriend, a criminology museum curator,

Is named Patrick Wisely; we don't know if he's worthy to date her

There's more to Velma than meets the eye—she's got a feisty streak,

And truth be told, without her, the gang would be up a creek
